Domains, not guesses

Social networks send their notifications from a few known domains. That makes this a job for a condition rather than a model: the template matches the sender’s domain and acts at once. It covers subdomains too, so mail from a marketing subdomain is caught as well.

When to change it

The template archives everything from these domains. That includes direct-message alerts and account security emails. If you rely on either, add an exception or put a rule above it. If you use other networks, add their domains to the list.

01

What it catches

  • Likes, follows, profile views and "people you may know" emails from LinkedIn, Facebook and X.
  • Mail from subdomains of those three, such as an address at e.linkedin.com.
02

What it leaves alone

  • Other networks, such as Instagram, Reddit or Mastodon. Add their sending domains if you want them.
  • Mail from twitter.com. Only x.com is in the list.
  • Nothing from those domains is spared: messages and security alerts are archived too. Add an exception or a rule above this one if that matters to you.
03

What you can change

  • Add or remove domains in the condition.
  • Ask Rewrite with AI to add an exception, for example to keep message alerts in your inbox.
  • Replace archive with a move to a folder such as Social.
  • Drag Login codes above it, so code emails from these domains stay in your inbox.

Questions

Where does archived mail go?

To the folder your mail server marks as Archive, or a folder named Archive or Archives. MailRules never creates an Archive folder; if your mailbox has none, the action fails with "no Archive folder" and the email stays where it is.

Does it need an AI model?

No. It matches the sender's domain, so it runs without a model and costs nothing to run.

Can I get the emails back?

Yes. They are in your Archive folder, and each action can be undone from MailRules.

Tell your inbox what to do. Then stop thinking about it.
